Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name released its second trailer, and it’s a beefy one.
The first half is a story trailer, giving more context as to what Kazuma Kiryu, the man whose name is erased and who assumes the identity of Agent Joryu, will be up to. These events are set between the end of Yakuza 6 and the start of Yakuza: Like A Dragon and will feature two returning locations: Sotenbori and Isezaki Ichinjo. There are big stakes at play here, Kiryu/Joryu sheds some tears which is a rarity to see. Just goes to show how wild this spin-off game’s story can go.
And fascinatingly, the story looks to also be setting up for the events of Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth (Yakuza 8), with one scene made mention of Kiryu/Joryu going to Hawaii.
Like any Like A Dragon game, the melodramatic is balanced out with zany, goofy side content. And Like A Dragon Gaiden will have loads. Most of them are carry-overs from past titles. Here’s a bullet-point list of what silly stuff Kiryu can do in Like A Dragon Gaiden:
- Auto battler arena (looks similar to Clan Creator)
- Cabaret Club (featuring live-action hostesses)
- Karaoke (featuring new songs)
- Pocket Circuit racing
- Sega retro games
- Golf
- Darts
- Billiards
Like A Dragon Gaiden will also include a playable demo of Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth. This “Special Trial” is only unlocked by completing the game and will feature additional scenes that only appear in the demo but not the full game.
Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erases His Name will be out on November 9 for the PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
