Koch Media Rebrands As Plaion

Koch Media, one of the many game publishers part of Embracer Group, has announced a rebrand. All of the Koch Media companies will now be renamed as Plaion.

That’s a play on words on… well, “play on”. And that’s precisely how it’s supposed to be pronounced. No more second-guessing how should you pronounce Koch Media (and for the record, it should not sound like that other word for a rooster).

“Since joining the Embracer Group in 2018, growth has accelerated and we have become increasingly diversified,” says Klemens Kundratitz, Co-founder and CEO at Plaion.

“To reflect the evolving nature of our business in terms not only of content, but also of geography as we continue our expansion across the globe, we have chosen our new name to better portray who we are and the journey we are taking.”

Plaion is a publisher with multiple labels including Deep Silver, Prime Matter, Milestone, Vertigo Games and Ravenscourt. Think of it like Take-Two, where the company name itself doesn’t appear on a game box but it has multiple publisher labels under the same roof.

Plaion also houses 10 different developers under them and they are:

  • Deep Silver Volition (Champaign, IL, USA)
  • Deep Silver Dambuster Studios (Nottingham, UK)
  • Fishlabs (Hamburg, DE)
  • Warhorse Studios (Prague, CZ)
  • Milestone (Milan, IT)
  • Voxler (Paris, FR)
  • DigixArt (Montpellier, FR)
  • Flying Wild Hog (Warsaw, Kraków, Rzeszów, PL)
  • Free Radical Design (Nottingham, UK)
  • Vertigo Games (Rotterdam, Amsterdam, NL)
