You wa shock! Well, not really, as SNK’s long-teased guest character that caps Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves Season 2 of DLC fighters, is now available. Kenshiro, from the manga and anime series Fist Of The North Star (Hokuto No Ken) makes his presence in South Town.
The seven-scarred fighter from a post-apocalypse world has punches for days, and before you know it, you’re already dead.
The gameplay trailer with the expected Bruce Lee-isms as he unloads a flurry of kicks and punches. The English voice may not be as iconic as the Japanese, but Kenshiro go yatatata menacingly in either languages.
Kenshiro will have story content in Arcade Mode and Episodes Of South Town, so you get to witness a story of a stranger in a strange land.
Kenshiro is no stranger to video games, even fighting games. There was Fist Of The North Star: Lost Paradise, a Yakuza-based open world brawler from the makers of Yakuza/Like A Dragon. There was also the Fist Of The North Star fighting game, simply named Fist Of The North Star, produced by Sega and Arc System Works in 2005.
So as far as guest characters in Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves go, between an international superstar football player and an electronic artist/DJ that’s a big fan of SNK games, Kenshiro is the most familiar to the audience of fighting game players.
The timing of an HNK guest character in an SNK game isn’t out of nowhere. A new anime series called Fist Of The North Star: Hokuto No Ken, featuring a new cast and staff behind the production, will be airing on Prime Video. Yes, they combined the English and Japanese names as the title of a new Prime Video series, the previous in recent memory was Like A Dragon: Yakuza. Two nickels, for those keeping count of the nickel-per-peculiar-circumstance-recurring stat.

With the release of Kenshiro, SNK also has announced Season 3 of new content, so support for Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves will continue on for at least another year. No other details have been provided, but with Season 3 starting in July, just days away, we’ll hear those details soon enough.
Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves is out now on PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X|S. The base game, Season Pass 1 and Season Pass 2 are currently on sale.
