As gamescom has closed down, we have loads of gameplay videos of the recently delayed Spyro Reignited Trilogy. The videos focus on the the latter two games, Spyro 2 Ripto’s Rage and Spyro 3 Year Of The Dragon.
The interesting bit here is how the extended cast has been redesigned. Starting from Spyro 2, the purple dragon meets up with a few more recurring supporting characters and by Spyro 3, some of them are playable.
First up is a gameplay from the first level where you play as Sheila the Kangaroo in Spyro 3. She gets a major redesign that on its own looks good. It’s understandable developers Toys For Bob have reworked her a lot- she’s not as iconic as Spyro so she may look rather bland for those not familiar with the game. But.. it’s a rather stereotypical design.
Hunter the Cheetah, the loveable goofball that introduces Spyro to all kinds of mini-games, also makes an appearance in another level of Spyro 3. There’s a skatepark and yes, you can indulge in a little bit of Spyro Pro Skater. Here, Hunter is seen with pants and skating gear.

The last of the revealed supporting cast is Elora The Fawn. This time she really looks like a fawn rather than a lady with goat legs. A default, pants-less Hunter and Mister Moneybags- the paywall keeper you will come across a lot are also featured.

While the redesigns of the dragons for Spyro The Dragon has been received well, the redesigns for the extended, non-dragon cast are a bit mixed. Some believed Toys For Bob have gone too far with the redesigns while others believed the change is for the better.
There still a few more characters to be revealed and we’ll see how the reception to it will be. Spyro Reignited Trilogy will headbash to stores on November 13th for the PS4, PC and Xbox One.
