Only a game as big as GTA VI could do this. Rockstar Games dropped some news of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI: pre-orders begin next week, and the cover art has been revealed.
That’s it.
Well, there’s also a YouTube video for the cover reveal, which in 9 hours has amassed 4.8 million views.
It’s been a long while since we have heard any news about the open world video game about doing crimes in fictional Florida, USA. A whole year, in fact. GTA VI was expected to launch this May back then, but in November last year announced a delay to its current release date of November 19, 2026.
The cover itself is of the expected format, a collage of concept art that’s become the template of GTA cover art since Grand Theft Auto III in select markets, and standardised by Grand Theft Auto Vice City. GTA VI will again be set in Vice City and the surrounding area in of Leonida, inspired by the city of Miami and the state of Florida respectively. Protagonist duo Jason and Lucia are on there, and so is a big alligator. There’s also a horizontal variant of the cover as well.
The pre-order pages on PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store does not attach a price to GTA VI yet. This is normal, though there are speculations that the game may be priced higher than industry standards for a full-priced AAA game, currently at $70 USD (which in Malaysia equates to RM300).
Until further news says otherwise, GTA VI will be out on November 19 for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders go live on June 25.
