To the many folks posting “ARES, REMAKE THE GREEK GOD OF WAR GAMES TRILOGY AND MY LIFE IS YOURS” or something along the lines, well, you are now in servitude under Santa Monica Studios as they announced a remake of the original God Of War Trilogy at the end of the February 2026 State Of Play broadcast.
Before Kratos being this jaded, old, beardy, angry godkiller as seen in God Of War (2018) and God Of War Ragnarok, Kratos was this young, angry godkiller.
Fans of the original trilogy where the games play more like character action games of its time (Devil May Cry like, if you will, or a hack-and-slash action game), will be getting their dose of nostalgia. Even better, TC Carson, the voice actor of Kratos in the original God Of War trilogy but not the newer games set in the Norse mythology, will be reprising his role.
No gameplay of the God Of War Trilogy Remake was shown, suggesting the game is still early in development. But fans pining for Greek-flavoured God Of War has something to play right now. God Of War: Sons Of Sparta has been announced and immediately released: it’s been shadowdropped.
Developed by Mega Cat Studios in partnership with Santa Monica Studios, God Of War: Sons Of Sparta is 2D action platformer is a canon story starring Kratos and his brother Deimos in their younger days in the Spartan Agoge. Military training, basically, but unbelievably brutal that it can be fatal.
God Of War: Sons Of Sparta, not to be confused with Sons Of Sparda, is out now on PS5.
