The next Genshin Impact update is a big one. Version 4.0 will be live on August 16 and will see the action-RPG gacha game getting a whole new nation to explore, Fontaine.
Previously teased with a few images, Fontaine, the Nation of Justice and the Nation of Hydro is filled with water and water and water water. From canals to cities surrounded by a lake to… well, fountains.
While the new nation, located northeast of the Sumeru desert, still has hills, caves and dungeons, you can also expect to explore underwater. Thanks to a special blessing, you can breathe underwater. There will be unique underwater traversal elements like turbulent bubbles that speeds up swimming, as well as underwater combat.
The new trailer gives a glimpse of what vibe to be expected from this new nation, and that vibe is art deco and jazz.
Genshin Impact Version 4.0 New Characters
Three new playable characters will debut with Version 4.0. Lyney, Lynette and Freminent, three siblings, will be available to be wished upon.

Genshin Impact Version 4.0 will also be adding some new features. On PS4 and PS5, the game will support Global Illumination, motion sensor support and faster loading times.
The game in general will now support multi-layered maps and the addition of new Party Setup backgrounds and animations.
Genshin Impact Version 4.0 will go live on August 16. The game is free-to-play available on PS4, PS5, PC (Epic Games Store, standalone launcher), iOS and Android with full support for cross-play and cross-progression.
