Garena Malaysia has announced a new FPS game to be released on mobile devices. Titled Free Fire Battlegrounds, 50 players parachute themselves onto an island, the last man standing wins.
Sounds familiar?
Described as a “survival shooter mobile game”, Free Fire also allows players to group up and form four-player squads and 10 minutes per match to make it fit for mobile.
It totally sounds eerily similar to a certain battle royale game, but is it more than just a clone? Thankfully, it’s free and available now for iOS and Android devices, so you can download, give it a go and see for yourself.
As what we’ve learned from the announcement, it feels too close that we might just call it a PUBG clone, which could be a major selling point or a major turn off depending on how you look at it. But the Free Fire development team is committed to listening to fan feedback, which will reflect on future updates to the game.
