Final Fantasy XVI Launches On PC This Month, Demo Now Available

PC players who have been looking from afar watching PS5 players enjoying Final Fantasy XVI and are shouting “COME TO ME IFRIT” as if to conjure a PC port into existence, rejoice. The summoning ritual works.

Final Fantasy XVI, the latest mainline entry to the long-established Final Fantasy series by Square Enix and previously a PS5-exclusive title, will make its way on PC on September 17.

In Asia, the game will be able to download on September 17, 11 PM JST (10 PM Malaysia Time, +8 GMT).

The PC release inlcludes both DLCs, Echoes Of The Fallen and The Rising Tide, which are available for purchase ala carte, as a 2-in-1 bundle with the Expansion Pass, or together with the base game as the Complete Edition. Pre-order bonuses are also available.

A demo of Final Fantasy XVI, which covers the harrowing first chapter as well as vertical slice of the game, is now available on Steam and Epic Games Store ahead of the launch.

Final Fantasy XVI, like any mainline Final Fantasy before it, brings a radical new way to experience an RPG. In this case, it brings a character action flavour with the combat designer behing Devil May Cry V behind the helm. Its storytelling is also a lot more darker in tone than previous instalments.

With fever-pitch hype died down, FF XVI isn’t exactly a classic. but if the purpose of a mainline FF game is supposed to be challenging RPG norms and introducing new mechanics and ideas each entry, then FF XVI accomplished that goal with aplomb.
