F1 25 Releases This May

EA Sports and Codemasters’ next F1 game has been announced, and it’s just two months away before it’s lights out.

F1 25, this year’s racing game based on Formula 1, is joining the bandwagon of celebrating one of the greatest drivers ever now donning a scarlet red race suit. The reveal trailer heavily features seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton locking in as he plays the F1 game to the tune of a heavily remixed “How Do You Like Me Now” by The Heavy.

Hamilton is the cover star for more expensive Iconic Edition of F1 25.

As for the game itself, F1 25 will be bringing back its story mode campaign, Braking Point, after its hiatus from last year’s entry. Braking Point 3 as it’s called here will see the return of familiar characters Callie Mayer, Aiden Jackson and Devon Butler as part of the 11th team on the grid, Konnersport Racing Team. No, it’s not the APXGP team.

Though content from the upcoming F1 movie is coming by way being able to play as APXGP in My Team and Driver Career, all coming post-launch.

Speaking of My Team, the mode will be getting “its biggest overhaul since it was introduced in F1 2020” with the promise of “new responsibilities” in this mode where you get to be an owner-driver of the 11th team on the grid.

F1 25 continues to be powered by the EGO engine, Codemaster’s in-house game engine that’s still in use in most of its racing games (outside of EA Sports WRC, which made the curious transition to Unreal). LIDAR tech is being used to laser scan several tracks, but not all, in F1 25.

Also, F1 25 marks the series going leaving behind the 8th-gen consoles (PS4, Xbox One) behind. This is a proper next-gen (9th-gen) console game now.

More info on My Team changes and circuit changes, will be coming via a pair of Deep Dive videos coming to the EA Sports F1 YouTube channel.

Last year’s F1 24 wasn’t that received as well, even our review is not as glowing. So there’s a lot riding on this year’s entry. At least the cover looks good.

F1 25 will be out on May 30 for the PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, EA App) and Xbox Series X|S.
