F1 2020 Update Makes Ferrari As ‘Fast’ As It’s Real-Life Counterpart

Codemasters’ annual F1 games always try to match its vehicle performance with the real-life counterparts. And as the real season goes underway, a balance patch will buff or nerf the teams in the game to match their performance.

The new update for F1 2020 has arrived, and it has rebalanced the performance of the F1 cars. The most notable is of course Ferrari. On launch, it has the best power unit in the game making it the fastest car on raw speed. Well, just like what the 2020 season has revealed, that has significantly dropped to the dismay of the Tifosi.

Haas and Alfa Romeo, which uses Ferrari engines, are also hit with a performance drop. The only winner here is Racing Point, which gets a performance improvement.

However, this change won’t affect My Team mode, where players can source their power units based on the four manufacturers. So if you’ve spent all that money on the most expensive and powerful engine (Ferrari) before this patch, this will remain unaffected, thankfully.

In addition to many bug fixes, patch 1.12 also updated some of the livery and team wear for Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull and McLaren. The helmets of Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas are now more accurate with the ones they used currently. Hamilton in particular now sports the Black Lives Matter logo, a cause the six-time world champion has been championing within the F1 paddock.

The new patch for F1 2020 is now live on PS4, PC and Xbox One and will arrive on Stadia soon. You can find the full patch notes here.
