EVO is shaking up this year’s online-only edition of the prestigious fighting game tournament with changes to its mainstage line-up, as well as more open tournaments for Fans of more niche fighting games.
In a tweet today, EVO announced EVO Online: 4 weeks of open tournaments anyone can join via online play.
The tournaments will run every weekend in july from July 4th to August 2nd, and will feature the following games:
- Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath
- Them’s Fighting Herds
- Skullgirls 2nd Encore
- Killer Instinct (2013)
Meanwhile, changes are being made to the previously announced line-up of main stage games EVO this year as EVO mainstay Smash Bros. is being cut.
No reason has been given for Smash Bros. Being removed.
The staff at EVO have said more information on sign-ups is coming soon.
EVO 2020 had to be cancelled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and this is the first news to come out since announcing the tournament would move online this year.
