E3 2018: Here’s All The Big Game Announcements From Square Enix
Simple and clean
A voiceover from Keith David and a short running time makes Square Enix’s E3 2018 showcase a mixed bag. On one hand, they have some good reveals and a tight presentation thanks to it being pre-recorded. On the other, it feels that they are still keeping something close to their chest. After taking a break from making an E3 briefing for two years, one might expect them to reveal more.
Nevertheless, there are some good showing of video games. Here’s what they announced:
Shadow Of The Tomb Raider
The game was leaked hard and had an extensive press showing last month. But Lara Croft’s third outing since the 2013 reboot finally gets a long footage of pure gameplay. Lara is murdering guards left, right and center with a stealth mechanic that encourages you to play aggresively rather than sneak just sneak around.
Shadow Of The Tomb Raider is set to release on Septermber 14th for the PS4, PC and Xbox One.
Final Fantasy XIV
A new trailer showcases the upcoming new patch, Under The Moonlight (4.3) as well as a new crossover event with Monster Hunter: World. Get your raid party to hunt Rathalos, though you need to be at least level 70 and beaten the Stormblood quest line beforehand.
The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit
Another look at the free spin-off game of Life Is Strange. Dontnod explained how the game is set part in the Life Is Strange universe, but it is not Life Is Strange 2- referred to as Season 2 by the developers.
It will be out on June 26th for the PS4, PC and Xbox One for absolutely free.
Dragon Quest XI – Echoes of an Elusive Age
The next mainline Dragon Quest title has a new trailer. The long-running RPG series’ latest entry was released last year, but the English version is coming soon enough.
It will be out on September 4th for the PS4 and PC.
A new game from PlatinumGames. The reveal trailer shows a chronology of the world before it cuts to two armoured men battling, but one has magical tendrils sprouting and grabbing the other person.
Little else is know so far at the time of writing. It will be out on PS4 and PC in 2019.
Eight playable characters, eight different journeys, one fun-looking RPG. From the team behind Bravely Default, this is Square Enix’s big title for Nintendo Switch.
It will be out on July 13th, exclusively on the Switch.
Just Cause 4
A new trailer that”s different from the one shown at Xbox’s stage yesterday. More tethers, better enemy AI (the ones in past games are basically make them as cannon fodders),a longer look at the hazardous tornadoes and storms and a lot of destruction.
It will be out on December 4th for the PS4, PC and Xbox One.
The Quiet Man
A new game we have no idea of what it is except for the man is quiet, it uses FMV and then transitions into in-game footage to beat some thugs.
It will be out on PS4 and PC, with more info to be released in August.
Kingdom Hearts III
It’s a Kingdom Hearts III trailer again, but it’s the same trailer at Xbox but with some new footage being spliced in? For some reason?
It will be out on January 29th for the PS4 and Xbox One.
