Koei Tecmo announced at Tokyo Game Show 2021 that Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires is getting ready to hit the west, specifically North America, with an English release coming early next year.
Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires is built on top of the usual Musou 1v1000 hack-and-slash gameplay, but with an added strategy meta-game as all games with the Empires suffix in the series do. Players will be on a quest to conquer ancient China by using both their brains and brawn in the battlefield.
For Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires, there’s a new mechanic that will change how you fight on the battlefield. Areas surrounding a castle can turn into a “Storming The Castle” scenario where you need to take control of the castle. Siege battles can also happen too.
You can also select “Secret Plans” when planning a mission. These have specific conditions for it to be a success or a failure, but should you trigger it successfully, you and your allies will get an advantage over the enemies. Enemies also have their own “Secret Plans” that will be used against you.
Outside the battlefield, you can expect political intrigue and domestic system from previous Empires releases to be back. Set your kingdom’s goals every half of a year, search and recruit new officers, buy equipment, and other diplomatic, economic and military commands are available as you seek to control ancient China.
Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires is set for release in English language for North America on February 15, 2022, for the PS4, PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. The PS4 version includes a free next-gen upgrade to the PS5 version.
