Dragon’s Dogma 2 Is Set In A Parallel World To The Original

Capcom’s upcoming action RPG Dragon’s Dogma 2 will feature a familiar high-fantasy setting to the original game, but it’s not the same world of Gransys.

In an interview with IGN, game director Hideaki Itsuno said that world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 is rather a parallel world.

“[Dragon’s Dogma 2] does take place in a different parallel world, which is why I think there will be parts that are similar yet different,” Itsuno said.

Dragon’s Dogma is themed around parallel worlds, Itsuno explained in the interview, where Pawns- AI controlled companions players can create- can interact with other “worlds”- as in entering another player’s world to be their party member.

Dragon’s Dogma 2’s world is split into two nations, the human monarchy of Vermund and the deserts of Battahl. While the world isn’t exactly the same world players have explored in the 2013 Dragon’s Dogma game, the sequel will still carry over similar elements that makes it a Dragon’s Dogma game. Namely it’s high fantasy setting set in a rather grounded tone where monsters like Cyclops and Harpies are less fantastical and more grotesque as a result.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be released on March 22 for the PS5, PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X|S.
