Codemasters have revealed Dirt 5, the next entry to the offroading Dirt series. Unlike Dirt 4, which tiptoes proper rally and offroad racing, Dirt 5 goes all-in with the offroad.
As teased before, this is a new team developing Dirt 5, separate from the Dirt Rally Team. This is by Codemasters Cheshire that did Onrush and was previously known as Evolution Studios- makers of the Motorstorm series. So these folks know a thing or two about offroad racing games.
Dirt 5 will have a Career Mode boasting some star talent. They got both Troy Baker and Nolan North to be in the game, as well as other names from the car culture world, including the folks at Donut Media. With “decision-based” changes.
Expect to see a photo mode you can access in-race (a staple for this dev team) and a deeper livery editor. On the multiplayer side, there’s 12-player multiplayer “with playful objective-based modes” and four-player split-screen.
The announcement comes from the recent Inside Xbox “gameplay” stream. Dirt 5 supports Smart Delivery- buy it on Xbox once, and get it for Xbox One and Xbox Series X with no extra cost.
Dirt 5 will be out later in fall (September-November) for the PS4, PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X. A release for Stadia will come in 2021.
