Digimon World: Next Order Out Now On PC, Switch

Bandai Namco has released Digimon World: Next Order today on PC and Switch. This is a port of the 2016 game first released on PS Vita, then on PS4 the following year.

This is a “training RPG” where you train Digimon of various personalities to be stronger within a lifespan. If you’ve played a Digimon World game (that first one on the PS1 was brutal yet so memorable), you know what to expect. This includes feeding them, giving them praises or scolds, and making sure their bathroom needs are attended.

Digimon fights are a thing, but you don’t have direct control of them. You can, however, issue orders or use items to support them in battle.

Digimon has a lifespan, and by the end of their life they’ll turn into a DigiEgg and you must raise them again. However, basic parameters and skills are kept so in their next life, they can continue to evolve stronger.

Digimon World: Next Order lets you train two Digimon partners at a time, with 230 Digimon featured including classics like Agumon and Gabumon. You play as either Takuto or Shiki, a Digimon fan that is suddenly transported into the Digital World. And now, you must save the Digital World and find a way out of being isekai’d with your two chosen partner Digimon.

New to Digimon World: Next Order is Beginner Mode, which caps enemy strength, and the run ability which lets you move 1.4 times faster.

Digimon World: Next Order is out now on PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch.
