Developers Volition Reportedly Suffered Layoffs

It’s normal for game developer studios to let go of some staff after a major release. But reports based on Kotaku’s sources suggest that developers Volition, which recently released Agents Of Mayhem, got hit by layoffs for another reason: poor sales.

30 people from the roughly 200-man studio were let go, including Volition general manager Dan Cermak.

Publishers Deep Silver were unhappy with the sales of Agents Of Mayhem, technically a new IP roughly based on the Saints Row universe, but as a single-player hero-shooter. Reviews of the game were not as glowing, unfortunately. And so were sales figures.

All we hope that it’s just a minor setback for the developers. Best of luck to those affected.
