Dan Hibiki, notable joke character for the Street Fighter series, is coming to Street Fighter V as part of Season 5 of new characters. At TGS 2020 last weekend, a new gameplay video has dropped showcasing his moves.
The shoto character plays like Ryu, Ken and many others, but maybe not as good. In the right hands, Dan can be surprisingly good, but on first glance his moves are goofy.
His versions hadoukens and shoryukens are laughable (though even stronger than before it seems), and for his appearance on Street Fighter V, it’s pretty much what you’d expect. His animations are a few frames too many, but makes it all more charming- he really puts his heart on that throw.
Oh, he also has a multitude of taunts again, and his critical art (SFV’s version of supers) is still the Legendary Taunt- which does no damage whatsoever. Now that’s a flex.
Dan Hibiki will join Street Fighter V as the first of five characters in the upcoming Season 5, and is expected to drop sometime this winter. Season 5 will also include two other Street Fighter returnees Rose and Oro, Akira Kazama from Rival Schools plus one more unrevealed character.
