More people are using Steam than ever. And during the first week of January 2021, the highest concurrent number of Steam users, according to SteamDB, surpassed 25 million.
The last spike of this number was during late-March and early-April of 2020 when most of the world went into lockdown in response to a spreading pandemic.
The peak number passing 25 million was passed on January 2, and even in this week the peak concurrent users are still increasing. Note that this does not mean that all the users are in-game (that has peaked at a little bit more than 8 million, during the same period of 2020 mentioned previously).
Still, with the world currently at the state as it is, many more people are looking at video games as a means to either escape from the dread or to connect with people online.
