Code Vein II Prologue Trailer Gives The Gist Of The Story So Far

While we should be wrapping up the year now that we’re in the holiday season, Bandai Namco is ramping up the promotion for the upcoming Code Vein II, which will launch in just a month’s time.

A new trailer just dropped for Code Vein II, catching up players with the story so far. This trailer posted by Bandai Namco Entertainment Southeast Asia features Japanese voiceovers with English subtitles.

The gist of is that there was the Resurgence, an event that made humans and animals twisted into monstrous Horrors and leaves the world in ruin. With the rise of Revenants, in particular “one great Revenant,” the Resurgence was sealed. This is the events of Code Vein.

A hundred years ago, the Resurgence weakened and threaten the world again, only for the Revenants to succeed in resealing it. These Revenants are now dubbed as Heroes.

At the start of the Code Vein II, another threat looms, and one that will require the protagonist to call upon assistance from Heroes of the past.

Code Vein II is, according to Bandai Namco, a “dramatic exploration action RPG” though for most of us it’s more akin to a soulslike action-RPG. The sequel will see players be accompanied by a partner Revenant of their choice and explore dangerous areas as well as fight powerful foes to save the already ruinous world by our standards into ruin.

Code Vein II launches on January 29, 2026 for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It will launch on PC (Steam) in Asia one day later, on January 30.
