COD Modern Warfare 4’s DMZ Mode Has Inklings Of Improving The Extraction Shooter Genre

Activision and Infinity Ward have showcased a new Deep Dive for their upcoming game, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4, and it’s new version of their Extraction game mode, DMZ.

This new DMZ sees the addition of a Forward Operating Base (FOB), which is build similarly to the one we last seen it in COD WW2, with Stations that consisting of places that you could check up on your Operators, Stash and Loadouts with the ability to 3D Print equipment to use in your run, and even getting Orders as you roam around the Hajin. The base will also builds around you while progress throughout the mode.

And once you and your team have deployed, its up to your quick wits and skill as the AI combatants and even other players are going to be a hinderance as you try to complete the DMZ Orders or even Side-Ops scatter across the map, with every eliminating gaining your team heat levels that you see you taking on harder enemies until you extract, or gets taken down.

It’s a fascinating reiteration of the original DMZ mode back in Modern Warfare 2 (2022), and I personally cannot wait to see how it evolves once players get their hands on it when it releases later this month.

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23 for the PS5, PC (Steam, Microsoft Store, Battle.net), Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
