CD Projekt, the parent company of CD Projekt Red, shared an update saying that it has been hacked.
The publisher/developer confirmed that the hacker has gotten unauthorised access into the company’s internal network.
The hacker left a ransom note, warning CD Projekt that they will leak the source code for games like Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3, Gwent and unused versions of The Witcher 3, as well as the company’s more sensitive data like accounting and legal documents, should CD Projekt decide to not give in to their demands.
CD Projekt, in their official announcement, declared that they will not give in to the demands, and instead are working with relevant authorities and IT forensic specialists to resolve the matter.
The good news is, to what the company knows so far, no personal data of players were leaked in this breach.
CD Projekt Red are currently still working on fixing Cyberpunk 2077 before they will roll out promised free DLCs.
