Gearbox Software and 2K dropped a present early for Borderlands 4 players. Bounty Pack 1: How Rush Saved Mercenary Day was supposed to be paid post-launch DLC, the first in the previously revealed roadmap.
Surprise! Bounty Pack 1 is free! And it’s available now.
That doesn’t mean players who purchased the Bounty Pack Bundle, Deluxe Edition or Super Deluxe Edition are getting less value for what they paid for. The promise four Bounty Packs included in these addons will still be fulfilled as there will be a fifth Bounty Pack.
Details and timing of the release of future Bounty Packs will be revealed later.
In Bounty Pack 1: How Rush Saved Mercenary Day, players will be teaming up with the big, lovable leader of the Outbounders Rush to take down Minister Screw and ” bring festive cheer to the people of Kairos.” Yes, this is a “holiday-themed” (read: Christmas and associated holidays commonly celebrated in the western hemisphere at the end of every year) DLC, released before the holiday season kicks off.
The new missions can be started by interacting with a present (marked as a new mission on the map) at any major hub.
Bounty Pack includes the following contents:
- New missions
- 4 new legendary gear (re-rollable)
- 5 new weapon skins
- 4 new heads
- 2 Echo-4 attachements
- 4 Vault Hunter skins
- 4 Echo-4 Drone skins
- 5 vehicle skins
- 1 new vehicle
- 1 Vault Card (like a battle pass where you complete checklists of activities to earn XP and unlock rewards but have no expiration date, just grind at your pace)
On top of all that, players looking for proper endgame content in Borderlands 4 don’t have to wait long until the first Invincible boss drops in mid-December, which will also increase the Ultimate Vault Hunter mode level cap.
Though the real endgame mode fans wanted, Takedowns, will be coming in 2026. These will be free for all players.
Borderlands 4 is out now on PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store) and Xbox Series X|S. Check out our review of the game here.
