Archetype Entertainment Is A New Developer Founded By Ex-Bioware Veterans And Are Making A Sci-Fi RPG
A new game development studio has emerged. Archetype Entertainment is a new developer, founded by ex-Bioware veterans. They are an autonomous division of Wizards Of The Coast, the publisher you heard from trading card IPs like Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons.
We are thrilled to finally announce our new studio – Archetype Entertainment! Led by @JamesOhlen and @crobertson_atx, we are developing a multi-platform roleplaying game set in an all-new science fiction universe. Check out the website in our bio for job opportunities.

Archetype’s founders are head of studio James Ohlen and general manager Chad Robertson. Ohlen previously worked as lead designer and creative director on Baldur’s Gate I and II, Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic, Dragon Age: Origins and Star Wars The Old Republic.
Robertson’s previous position was the head of live services for Bioware’s latest game, Anthem.
From the website’s description, Archetype Entertainment is making “a multi-platform roleplaying game set in a new science fiction universe.” Something out of the wheelhouse of its parent company.
But what isn’t out of the wheelhouse of this company is their emphasis on making story-driven RPGs, a trademark of Bioware until recently. Will this feel the void left by Mass Effect?
The company is currently recruiting to work on this RPG at their offices at Austin, Texas, USA.
