Alan Wake 2 Delayed By 10 Days

The release of Alan Wake 2, the upcoming survival horror by Remedy, is delayed by 10 days, from October 17 to October 27.

The delay is a minor one and mainly a strategic move.

“October is an amazing month for game launches and we hope this date shift gives more space for everyone to enjoy their favourite games,” the tweet announcing the delay says.

October 2023 is packed with big-budget AAA game releases. The week in which Alan Wake 2 was supposed to release, it would have been competing with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 released three days after on October 20.

The move to October 27 would mean THQ Nordic’s Alone In The Dark revival, also a survival horror game, will be competing with Alan Wake 2. Alone In The Dark is releasing on October 25.

Other prominent releases in October 2023 include Assassin’s Creed Mirage (October 12), Forza Motorsport (2023) (October 10) and Cities: Skylines II (October 24). Granted the latter two have more niche audiences given they are not action blockbuster games, but it goes to show the packedness of October 2023, in particular if you play a lot of AAA games. We’re not counting the indies, which are going to be even more plentiful.

Alan Wake 2 will be showcased at Gamescom 2023 Opening Night Live, so expect to see a bit more of the game.

Alan Wake 2 is now going to be released on October 27 for the PS5, PC (Epic Games Store), and Xbox Series X|S.
