At the recent next@Acer livestream, Acer introduced the 2023 refresh of the Predator Triton gaming laptop line.
Similar to the Predator Helios and the Acer Nitro series of laptops, the Triton has now used the numerals in its product names to denote screen size. no more Triton 700 and Triton 300, say hello to the Triton 17 X and Triton 14.
The Predator Triton 17 X (PTX17-71) is the top-of-the-line thin gaming laptop from Acer this year, designed for the most demanding AAA games and the workload of resource-intensive apps.
As you expect, the specs go all out as the laptop can house the most powerful chips that can fit in its thin chassis. We’re talking 13th-gen Intel Core i9-13900HX CPU. Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU. Up to 64GB DDR5-5600Hz RAM. Up to 4TB SSD.
For the display, there two panel specs, both are 17-inch (as the name Tritron 17 X implies) and at 16:10 aspect ratio. One of them were revealed. The specs are: WQXGA 2048×1536 mini-LED (AmLED) display, 250Hz, 1,000 brightness (pass DisplayHDR requirements), DCI-P3 100%.
The Triton 17 X also supports Nvidia Advanced Optimus and G-Sync.
For cooling, the Predator Triton 17 X uses a three-fan cooling system, two of which are using Acer’s Aeroblade 3D fans. Liquid metal thermal grease is also used.
Here are some other accoutrements offered on Predator Triton 17 X
- Per-key RGB keyboard
- Fingerprint reader

As you can expect after reading all of this, the Predator Triton 17 X is a premium offering. It will retail for $3,799 USD (roughly RM16,934.04) in North America so this is for only the select few who can afford it.
On the other side of the pricing scale is the Predator Triton 14 (PT14-51). This thin gaming laptop is no slouch on the specs but nothing overkill. CPU is up to 13th-gen Intel Core i7-13700H. GPU offering is either a Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 (good for gaming) or the RTX 4050 (if you care less about gaming).
As for the screen, it’s a 14-inch (again, as the name implies) with a 16:10 aspect ratio. It’s a WQXGA (2560 x 1600) Mini LED display with a 250 Hz refresh rate, and is certified with DisplayHDR 600.
The Triton 14 also offers a MicroSD card reader and Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E AX1675i for fast internet speeds.
