Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse Demo Out Now, Progress Carries Over To Main Game

Konami has released a demo for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, the upcoming new entry to the fabled search-action platformer series, the “vania” in metroidvania.

The demo covers the early portions of the game. Progress from the demo can be carried over to the main game launching next week. The save transfer would only work when played on the same platform with the same account, naturally.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is set in Paris in 1499, 23 years after the events of Castlevania III. Players take on the role of Rose Belmont, daughter of Trevor Belmont, the protagonist of Castlevania III and a name that should be familiar to those who watch the Castlevania animated series on Netflix, as she continues the family tradition of killing vampires through the use of various weapons, including the aptly named holy whip, “Vampire Killer.”

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is joint-developed by Konami, Evil Empire and Motion Twin. For the uninitiated, the latter two are indie devs that had worked on Dead Cells, the popular roguelike metroidvania that actually had a collaboration with Castlevania. So this title brings it all full circle, where indie developers inspired by Castlevania got to work on a new Castlevania.

Evil Empire also previously worked on another established IP, as they were responsible for The Rogue Prince Of Persia.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse launches on October 15 for the PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
