2K Acquires PGA Tour 2K21 Devs HB Studio, Signs Long-Term Deal With Legendary Golfer Tiger Woods

2K announced that they have “scored a hole in one” as they have signed a long-term partnership with legendary golfer Tiger Woods.

Woods, tied for most career wins in PGA Tour history, and still active in the sport, will have an active role in the development of 2K’s annual golf games as Executive Director and consultant. The deal also includes 2K getting exclusive rights for his name and likeness to appear only on PGA Tour 2K games.

As part of this deal, 2K will also partner with the TGR Foundation that “provides award-winning STEM curricula and college-access programs to offer underserved students the tools needed to thrive in school and beyond.”

In addition, 2K has also acquired The Golf Club and PGA Tour 2K21 developers HB Studios, joining 2K’s long lineup of wholly-owned developers that includes Visual Concepts, Firaxis Games, Hangar 13, Cat Daddy Games, Cloud Chamber and 31st Union.

PGA Tour 2K21 is a really good golf game, but with some issues that should be addressed in subsequent years. Presentation-wise, it has yet to top the good old Tiger Woods PGA Tour games by EA from years past. Bringing back Tiger Woods, as well as acquiring HB Studios, is a massive move by 2K here.

Let’s hope they will also bring back the many different Tiger fist pump celebrations.
