Lenovo Malaysia has announced the release of the 2022 refresh for the Legion gaming laptops. This is the seventh generation of the gaming laptop line, first launched in 2017.
This includes the Lenovo Legion 5, Lenovo Legion 5i, Lenovo Legion 5 Pro and Lenovo Legion 5i Pro.
The 2022 Legion 5 comes in 15-inch screens with either the latest AMD Ryzen CPUs or the 12th-gen Intel Core CPUs (for the Legion 5i- the small “i” stands for Intel), up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070, comes in two colours (Storm Grey, Cloud Grey), a 4-zone RGB, Lenovo’s trademark TrueStrike keyboard. Lenovo says the keyboard in the Legion 5 and 5i is quieter (33% less noise).
Also, the cooling has been improved thanks to a 40% more powerful fan and a 45% larger exhaust fin to keep temps down while it runs games or apps at full performance.
The 2022 Lenovo Legion 5 and 5i all have a 15.6-inch 1440p display, up to 165Hz refresh rate, 100sRGB colour gamut, Dolby Vision, Nahimic 3D audio plus support for Wi-Fi 6E and charging via USB-C. All the models are running on Windows 11, include a 1080p webcam (with an “e-camera shutter”) and a whopping 3 years of Legion Ultimate Support, Lenovo’s version of warranty support but for gaming laptops.

But for those looking for a more gaming-dedicated solution, Lenovo also launched the Legion 5 Pro and Legion 5i Pro gaming laptops. The Legion Pro laptops come with that new 16-inch display (with an unconventional 16:10 aspect ratio, at 1600p resolution) where it covers most of the top panel (90%) leaving little room for bezels. The cooling is also better with Legion Coldront 4.0, offering noise suppresion since the chassis has been noise-insulated.
Like the normal Legion 5s, the Legion 5 Pro also offers Nahimic 3D audio, 4-zone RGB TrueStrike keyboard, DDR5 RAM, and quick-charging via USB-C.
