Sega will be releasing a demo for the upcoming Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, the latest Like A Dragon game coming this February.
The demo will include both portions of the remake of Yakuza 3 (Yakuza Kiwami 3) starring series mainstay Kazuma Kiryu and the new bundled-in spin-off game Dark Ties (titled in Japan as another Like A Dragon Gaiden) featuring Mine.
There is a catch. This is a purely a demo rather than a portion of the opening chapter of the full game. Save data can’t be carried over to the main game.
It’s worth bringing up that the last time a Like A Dragon game had a demo, there was a mishap where players managed to play the full game through a demo of Yakuza 6, which wasn’t released yet at the time (this has since been patched, of course). The demo of Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, bundled within Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased his name, also was standalone vertical slice deal, no save carryovers.
Nevertheless, here’s what you can expect to experience in the Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties demo:
- Yakuza Kiwami 3 Demo Content
- Play part of the main story and select substories (mini-games)
- Explore Downtown Ryukyu
- Try the dual fighting styles of Kiryu’s Dragon Of Dojima (default) and Ryukyu (new for Kiwami 3)
- Go karaoke and other mini-games
- Flip phone customisation
- Style Kiryu with apparel customisation
- Dark Ties Demo content
- Play part of the main story
- Explore Kamurocho
- Fight using Mine’s shootbox-inspired fighting style
- Play mahjong and other mini-games
The demo of Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties will go live on January 22, tomorrow at the time of writing, for PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
