And that is a literally as it goes. Sea Of Thieves is out now on the Xbox One and Windows 10 PC, and a peculiar day-1 patch popped up. No, it’s not a 10GB download for stabilty reasons, but rather a literal Day-1 patch. Or eyepatch, rather.

Sea Of Thieves is a game about pirates doing pirate things in co-op multiplayer, and Rare has done a little bit of a community fanservice with this inclusion. Over on Reddit, user Jefabell suggested that the game should add a “Day One Patch” eyepatch in its day one patch.
As discovered by early players, the game has a Day-One eyepatch that costs one gold. The description reads: “A message in a bottle from Jolly Jefabell washed ashore. Eye patch maker read it and said ‘aye’.”

Now isn’t this jolly fun. It did not come as its own separate Day-one patch, however, and everyone can buy the eyepatch even if you only will be playing it later outside of the early launch window. But still, it’s a nice gag from the community that developers Rare took the opportunity to fulfill.
