New The Blood Of Dawnwalker Gameplay Shows How One Quest Can Play Differently

The Blood Of Dawnwalker, the upcoming open-world action-RPG by Rebel Wolves and published by Bandai Namco, has a new 27-minute gameplay showcase.

The second of two so far, this gameplay video is to highlight the narrative focus of the game’s quests, and how different the same quest can play out depending on if the sun’s out or not. You see, protagonist Coen is a normal human by day but becomes a vampire by night, so not only does he has access to different abilities, the people will also react differently too.

In this gameplay, Coen is looking to gain access to a crypt. In the day, there’s plenty of mundane cutscenes where you see a baby baptised, conversations with various people in the church and a lot of questing before you get access to the place you need to go.

If approached at night, Coen can just use his vampire powers to move on walls and climb up rooftops, getting access to the location quicker. But there’s more encounters and even secrets that you don’t see when there’s daylight.

However you approach The Blood Of Dawnwalker, the clock’s ticking. There’s an in-game clock, objectives for quests are time-sensitive, and proceeding to the next objective of a questline can advance time. If you miss having to be tested by your time management skills since the first three Dead Rising games, good news.

And if you’re a fan of The Witcher 3, you’d be happy to see that The Blood Of Dawnwalker has that same calibre of polish, not just because Rebel Wolves are based in Poland, but some talents at the developer did worked on The Witcher. The writing sounds believable, the cutscenes look decent, and there are twisted, messed up things in this seemingly straightforward medieval world.

Between this and The Witcher 4, there are two open world games powered by Unreal Engine 5 based in a fantastical medieval setting coming real soon.

The Blood Of Dawnwalker has no release date yet but it’s coming in 2026 for the PS5, PC and Xbox Series X|S.
