Head’s up if you ever want to try out Need For Speed Heat. The game is currently on sale at an all-time low price on all platforms.
On PlayStation Store, Need For Speed Heat Deluxe Edition is 94% off at RM19.02. On Steam, the game is playable for free throughout the weekend, and is currently 95% off at RM14.95.
If you have Game Pass, the game is available on PC and Xbox via EA Play. The game supports cross-play for multiplayer races.
It’s a good time to try out Gamer Matters’ Best Racing Game of 2019, and the one last hurrah by Ghost Games as the next Need For Speed will be developed by previous caretakers of the franchise, Criterion Games.
On that note, there has been a report by Insider Gaming suggesting that the announcement for the next Need For Speed game is imminent.
The official announcement, should the report comes true, is expected to arrive in the next two weeks, with a short trailer featuring music by A$AP Rocky.
Other details in the report include the game being a next-gen only (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC) title, will feature “meetups” (like an online lobby but presented as a car meetup, popular among car enthusiasts), and… “anime elements”.
We shall see if the report is true, but the timing of that Need For Speed Heat sale might be leading us to something.
UPDATE 04/10/22: The Need For Speed Twitter is now alive, posting its first tweet in 2022. The account last tweeted on December 21, 2021.
The tweet is simply an eye emoji, replying to a Tweeter asking for confirmation of an upcoming announcement.
The Twitter header and profile picture for the Need For Speed account also sports new branding, including a new NFS logo, likely to match the upcoming game.
UPDATE 06/10/22: Looks like the report is real. The Need For Speed Twitter confirms an official reveal for Need For Speed 2022 is set for October 6, 11AM Malaysia Time (+8 GMT).
That’s likely not the real name, but it implies the next NFS will definitely be releasing this year.
