Look At This Sick New Doom: The Dark Ages Artwork By John Patrick Gañas

Here’s a simple news story with a simple title, but with a big takeaway. There’s a new Doom: The Dark Ages artwork by Filipino artist John Patrick Gañas. It looks sick. But it’s no fan art, it’s commission by Bethesda Southeast Asia.

The artwork, which will be used on all of Bethesda Southeast Asia’s social channels, features The Doom Slayer equipped with the new (and unorthodox for any regular Doom game) arsenal, the flail and the Shield Saw, as he stands over a bunch of enemy fodders. “I’m glad I get to revisit my love for maximalism and bold silhouettes with this piece,” Gañas said “The gritty tone was the perfect excuse to do as I pleased.”

The takeaway from this is it not only there are talented artists in Southeast Asia (check out Gañas’ work on Instagram), but Bethesda is making its presence known in the region. If you haven’t noticed it, that should explain more regional gaming outlets including us here in Gamer Matters have reviews of Bethesda games ahead of launch in the last couple of month.

We shall see how the Maryland, USA-based publisher continues to engage with the SEA region moving forward.

Doom: The Dark Ages is out now on PS5, PC and Xbox Series X|S. Check out our review of the game here.
