Diablo IV Season Of The Malignant Brings New Threats, Battle Pass

Diablo IV, the latest entry in Blizzard’s loot-based ARPG, will have its first season starting on July 20.

Season Of The Malignant, the first season in what will be of many in the game’s live service life, will see players team up with former priest Cormond to stop the spread of the Malignant. New enemies, Malignant Monsters, will appear in this season.

Malignant Hearts that are dropped by these new enemies can be inserted into Rings and Amulets.

The multi-chapter objective system will see you earning progress for the Battle Pass, which requires Favor earned from completing chapters. As like other Battle Passes, there’s a free tier and a premium, paid tier with exclusive cosmetics.

Like Diablo III, Diablo IV’s seasonal content requires the creation of a new character, so every player starts on even ground. It allows players to try out a new class, and have new players not feel pressured to reach the endgame before they can attempt to clear the seasonal content as fast as veterans are.

Renown, benefits from the Altars of Lilith and mounts will be available to new characters if unlocked previously. Seasonal characters will then be migrated to the Eternal Realm, the main game, where you have permanent access to them.

Diablo IV Season Of The Malignant stars July 20. The game is out now on PS4, PS5, PC (Battlenet), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Check out our review of the game here.
