Codemasters Is Teasing A New Dirt Game Coming Soon From A New Dev Team

Codemasters have been putting out racing games. Two decent ones last year, with Dirt Rally 2.0 and Grid (2019). And of course, they are going to put out more.

In an announcement post, Codemasters have revealed that the development team that worked on Dirt Rally 2.0 has now moved to a new title. There will be no more additional content seasons, though the usual Daily/Weekly/Monthly Challenges, Clubs, and esports will continue on. That team will continue to work on the “Rally” series for some time.

However, Codies has a new Dirt game coming very soon. This is being made by a different studio from the Dirt Rally team.

The Dirt series was more of a sim-cade rally series that later expanded into other off-road disciplines and also gymkhana. The last entry of the main series, Dirt 4, was bold with the inclusion of procedurally-generated rally stages, but didn’t get as a positive reception as the more-hardcore, more simulation Dirt Rally series.

Whatever this new Dirt game will be (Dirt 5? Dirt Showdown 2? Dirt (2020)?), expect to see it really soon. The Codemasters and Dirt Twitter accounts have updated their profile pictures with new art, possibly teasing this new Dirt game already.

But for fans of “The Dark Souls Of Racing Games”, our fun moniker for the Dirt Rally series, fret not. There will be another game from that team in the works as well.
