Over 10 Million Player Pre-Registered For The Global Launch Of Where Winds Meet

Where Winds Meet, the free-to-play open world wuxia game by Everstone Studios and NetEase Games, has over 10 million pre-registered players anticipating its launch this week.

To keep the hype going, the developers have released a preview livestream showcasing what to expect when players enter the “jianghu.” It’s a term you hear a lot in Where Winds Meet, literally means “rivers and lakes” but in this context, refers to the scene of wuxia heroes and legends.

The full broadcast livestream went live three days ago at the time of writing, featuring gameplay of the game as well as an overview of what to expect when Where Winds Meet launches.

Though if you prefer the cliff notes, here’s a two-minute summary of what’s shown in the broadcast. It includes:

  • The open world has “so much more than just kung fu battles”
  • Combat “rooted in traditional fighting styles”
    • 7 weapons (Long Sword, Dual Blades, Spear, Mo Blade, Rope Dart, Umbrella, Fan)
    • 12 Martial Arts
    • 23 Mystic Arts
  • Stephen Tung Wai, famous for directing action movies, is involved in the game
  • Motion-capture is used for depicting martial arts
  • Dynamic weather and time
  • “Smart NPC System” where you can interact with “thousands of lifelike characters”
  • Qinghe region features “diverse landscapes”
  • Kaifeng region features a palace and big city
  • Folk customs including shadow puppets, pitch pot, card games, operas and lion dancing
  • “The first wuxia open-world”

Where Winds Meet can now be pre-loaded on PC (official launcher or via Steam). Pre-loads for the PS5 version is available for those that purchase the pre-order bundle.

Where Winds Meet was first revealed in 2022 at Gamescom Opening Night Live. Since then, the game has launched in China in late 2024.

Where Winds Meet launches globally on PS5 and PC (Steam, official launcher) on November 15.
