If you’re a kid in the 90’s, what game platform did you play on? If it was the Nintendo 64, platformers like Super Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie are what Yooka-Laylee aims to do. In fact, most of the team at Playtonic Studios involved in some ways at the making of Banjo in the first place. The crowdfunded game is doing the cartoon platforming again, with beautiful worlds, whimsical characters with googly eyes, a playful soundtrack and most importantly, tons of jumping and movement mechanics.
This trailer for Gamescom 2016 shows exactly all of that, and more! Apparently Yooka and Laylee can combine and morph into snowplowers? See it for yourself below:
If you’re interested to see more, backers of the game’s Kickstarter campaign has got access to a playable demo of sorts- a toybox, if you will- where you could roam around and play around with the controls and abilities without being a part of the game proper. Search around the YouTube for Yooka-Laylee Toybox.
In the meantime, we will have to wait until early next year for Yooka-Laylee to release on the PC, PS4, Xbox One and Wii U.
