Blizzard has unveiled the next expansion for Hearthstone – Whispers Of The Old Gods.
This new expansion will bring with it 134 new cards, all themed around the fabled apocalyptic and Cthulhu-inspired Old Gods lore from the MMO, World Of Warcraft. It is slated for release in late April/Early May.
Prepare yourself, brave champion, for in the coming weeks an eerie darkness will weave its way into the tavern, filling its patrons with a spine-tingling uneasiness—and everything will change. Whispers of the Old Gods™, the third expansion for Blizzard Entertainment’s Hearthstone® digital card game, will unleash an ancient evil from deep within Azeroth, bringing with it 134 twisted, tentacle-packed cards—along with the legendary power of C’Thun, N’Zoth, Yogg-Saron, and Y’Shaarj.
Introducing the split between Standard and Wild formats, the expansion will see the beginning of the new competitive format under Standard, where cards from previous expansions (Curse of Naxxramas and Goblins vs Gnomes) are rotated out of play. However, in Wild format, every card that has been released can be used.
New information has also been shared, with six new cards being shown for the first time, including one of the Old Gods, C’Thun.
Standing at 6/6 with the cost of 10 mana, C’Thun can be further buffed by its followers, no matter where it is, be it your hand, the deck or in play.
Players who log into the game during a special promotional period during the expansion’s release will be able to obtain three free Whispers of the Old Gods card packs. In addition, C’Thun and two copies of the Beckoner of Evil cards will be included for free. Take a look at the rest of the cards in our gallery:
