Warhammer Age Of Sigmar: Storm Ground Looks To Be A Promising Turn-Based Strategy Game

Here’s something that only appeared on our radar recently. Focus Home Interactive is publishing another Warhammer game this year, and it’s out soon.

Warhammer Age Of Sigmar: Storm Ground is a turn-based tactics game by Gasket Games, and the first game based on the Warhammer Age Of Sigmar IP, the less popular take on Warhammer Fantasy.

Still, the game looks to be a promising one for those that are looking for a strategy game with deckbuilding. The new gameplay overview trailer details the three factions you get to play as (Stormcast Eternals, Nighthaunts and the Maggotkin of Nurgle- no representatives from the Destruction faction).

Each of the playable factions has a replayable campaign where the routes and battles change on each playthrough. Something like a rougelike.

Your army, led by one hero character, is highly customisable. Though it does uses a card system, which means you’re essentially deckbuilding. But the combat in this turn-based strategy game is on a 3D map, with 3D characters.

Also, there is online multiplayer too, so you can battle with other players.

We shall see how the balancing is and if the fast-paced combat has the depth that it needs, but so far Storm Ground looks interesting, especially for a Warhammer game. Between this and Necromunda: Hired Gun, Focus Home might be having a good run of Warhammer games coming up in the upcoming months.

Warhammer Age Of Sigmar: Storm Ground is coming out on May 27 for the PS4, PC (Steam), Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
