Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Development Has Passed Alpha Stage

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has been quietly being worked on in this later half of the year. But it has some news: today developers Hardsuit Labs have announced that the game has reached alpha stage.

What this means to Bloodlines 2 specifically is that the game is now “systems-complete”. All the game mechanics and features have been implemented. It still needs to reach beta where it’s “content-complete” and most of the polish is being put in.

This may have explained the rough-looking early gameplay they were showing off before.

The developer diary here goes on the specifics on what sort of features they are working on now that it’s in Alpha. From UX improvement for using elevators to extra art like new blood splatters, it’s a fascinating look, especially if you’re not too familiar with how game development works.

Bloodlines 2 was delayed from its Q1 2020 release to sometime later in 2020. Thankfully, the team should have more time to polish the rough edges out that made the original only a cult-classic.

Thankfully, the delay means it won’t get overshadowed by another Half-Life game release again.
