Another month, another Street Fighter V update. Capcom has been consistently adding meat to the bones of a solid fighting game that has the fighting game community and top level play alive and kicking but a very unsatisfied crowd of mainstream and casual players. Last month saw some quality of life changes, including some updates on how they are handling rage quitters.
So, what’s in store for September? For one thing, we finally have our true heir of the Illuminati in the roster: Urien. Now sporting a business suit that does not rip off at the beginning of each fight, he still has most of his trademark moves, including the powerful Aigis Reflector- where every projectile bounces off it- which is now his V-Trigger.
In terms of features, there are plentiful. For one, as promised last month, you can now fight a CPU in a normal Versus bout of three rounds. Street Fighter V’s version of a Daily Challenge called Daily Targets will also be live. With rewards ranged from 100 to 5000 Fight Money, that should keep you logging in every day and play while you grind to unlock all those DLC characters for free.
Some advanced stat tracking features are now included in the Fighter Profile, and interestingly, environmental stage KO’s are now implemented in most stages. This feature was in debut trailer and can be found in the first stage- Bustling Side Street, but no other stages have this feature..until now.
For those who cared about the colours- then this update should be a treat. Season Pass owners get colours 3-10 for DLC characters for both default and battle costumes and Premium costumes- those that can only be acquired by paying real money- will include all colours. Colour bundles are also available for purchase using both Fight Money or real money.
There’s a ton of bug fixes too, which can be found here. The update should hit by September 22.
Now that all the DLC characters for the first season of content is out, we will see how Street Fighter V will continued to be updated to be in a state where a RM200 purchase is worthwhile for most players. With only 22 characters available, it’s still considerably a small roster compared to say, King Of Fighters XIV’s 50 on release. We will have to wait until next month to see how Capcom will add new stuff to the game, and hopefully get back some goodwill from those that still stick around.
