Ubisoft ended their E3 press conference at a high note by showing off a CGI trailer of a game we waited so long to hear more of: Beyond Good And Evil 2. The first game was a cult classic platformer with interesting ideas- you might remember it for being free for a limited time last year. Ever since that series creator Michel Ancel has tried to make a sequel but it never got a proper reveal and confirmation aside from some teases.
Almost more than 10 years have past and finally we get to see a proper reveal. Take a look below:
Beyond Good And Evil 2 is a prequel to the original game. Protagonist Jade from the first game isn’t even born yet. So what we see here is a new ragtag group as you explore the multi-cultrual lands of System 3.
While there is yet any gameplay video- the game just entered pre-production- there is a good reason why Ubisoft chose to reveal it here despite early confirmation that we may not see any news about it. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot clarified this in an interview with Gameslice TV (via PC Gamer).
“Michel really wanted to work with all the people that will play the game, to really create something new. He said: okay, it’s the right time now to go and speak about the game and ask for feedback on everything we do,” says Guillemot.
The Space Monkey Program that they announced on stage isn’t just a newsletter or a beta signup. Instead, developers Ubisoft Montpelier will be soliciting feedback from fans and its community on what Beyond Good and Evil 2 should be.
So don’t expect to see the game to be out anytime soon. If you are a long-time fan, you are the right person to chime in
