The Dream of Making Gaming A Career – Meet HazCraft75!

Minecraft is a huge game now despite its humble origins as one of the earlier examples of Early Access indie games. It’s now owned by Microsoft, have millions of fans the world over, with books, a yearly convention and a Telltale game spin-off. That’s one heck of a success story.

It has also inspired many budding content creators into doing videos. The sheer modability of Minecraft allows players to create various custom scenarios that are not only fun to play, but to fun to watch as well. Enter Haziq Fardil a.k.a. Hazcraft75, our featured gamer of the week. A competitive gamer at heart, he is known for his Minecraft related content over at his Youtube channel Hazcraft 75.

Aside from Minecraft, he also dabbled with horror games and does vlogs, like this one on his trip to last year’s Comic Fiesta:

Haziq hails from Melaka and has a household of gamers, namely his siblings, which have gotten him into gaming as young as three years old! It started out with owning the good old Playstation before getting a PS2 in 2009, which is where he found his favourite game for the console: GTA San Andreas. The venture to PC gaming only starts around 2012 when his brother bought a gaming PC, where he now play games such as Minecraft, Five Night At Freddy’s, the various Naruto games and Overwatch.

He eventually started his YouTube channel in 2015.

Haziq’s big dream as a gamer involves changing the current stigma of games by the general public, and hopefully make gaming a viable career. “I want the future of gaming to be one of the most popular career and raise the name of Malaysia. Games are something to make us think better and can add to our knowledge,” Haziq says.

We hope so too, there are ways to make money out of gaming nowadays, but more effort has to be done to make it a lucrative, or at least sustainable path of career here in Malaysia.

When it comes to challenges in making video content, Haziq cites technical issues- both on the PC and internet side- as usual hiccups. But here’s one problem he mentions that really caught our attention:

“In my place, Melaka, not many play games like me. I hope I can find new friends that always play games and making YouTube videos together.”

Of course, the issue here is not that there are no gamers in Melaka, mind, but how hard it is to establish networks to collaborate and do content together. It’s good timing that platforms like Fundeavour are now a thing that should help connect more like-minded gamers into helping each other, whether it’s about content creation or competitive gamers trying to make a name. Having collaboration, like doing videos together, helps in getting more exposure by cross-promoting each other to possibly a new, different audience.

Aside from that, we really need more gaming events around here in Malaysia. Twtupgamersmy certainly proved there is an audience for such events, but we really need more. Why not collaborate and create your own local gamer meetups and events? This should give more opportunities for gamers around your local area to make new friends and contacts. (Send GamerMalaya an invite too! We love covering local events)

With a bigger audience watching YouTube videos of local content creators that stems from strong gaming communities around Malaysia, maybe the day of playing games all day as a career will be not just a dream.

But all is well for Haziq, who remains positive despite such issues he is facing, “All these problems I solve it by thinking positive and fix it myself,” he added.

We wish all the best for Haziq and his future endeavors. Check out his channel Hazcraft 75 on YouTube and get in touch with him on Fundeavour.
