Nacon’s biggest open secret is secret no more. A new Test Drive Unlimited has been announced.
Titled Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, the subtitle Solar Crown is derived from the in-universe Solar Crown championship seen in Test Drive Unlimited 2. Developers KT Racing is expanding that idea for this new entry to the series, as revealed at the recent Nacon Connect.
High-end supercars and avatars with customisable clothing are back, as well as 1:1 scale island for its open-world, all hallmarks of the previous Test Drive Unlimited series.
KT Racing is also using their trademark racing game engine and physics derived from the WRC series for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown. Alain Jarniou, Creative Director at KT Racing, has also previously worked on Test Drive Unlimited 1 and 2, so there is a lineage from the original Eden Studios team that made the first two games.
No release date or platforms have been announced yet, but stay tuned. This is by far Nacon’s biggest title, in terms of brand name recognition. So hopefully they get this one right.
