Techtonica, the first-person factory automation game set underground of an alien planet, now has a firm release date.
It will launch in Early Access not only on PC, but also on Xbox, as well as on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.
“We’re trying to break new ground in the automation genre with Techtonica,” shared Eitan Glinert, President of Fire Hose Games. “We’re delivering a factory game with a fully voiced narrative that gives purpose to building factories. It’s a sci-fi mystery that demands automation ingenuity to unravel.”
Set in Calyx, players will explore below the surface of this planet, which has a cave system, and must figure out the mystery of what happened here. Everybody is dead, and you must build factories.
While it’s easy to compare Techtonica to fellow first-person factory automation game Satisfactory, based on previous demos there’s definitely a different feel to Techtonica’s brand of factory builder. The conveyor belts work and how they connect works a bit differently, the machinery you feed resources to also works a little differently. So essentially you’ll get to weave a different kind of conveyor belt mess,
And it looks like, from the release date trailer, the previously teased railway system will be part of this release. And this includes the ability to “railrun”, essentially riding the railway tracks like a zipline, is here. And so are jetpacks to aid in the factory building.
Techtonica enters Early Access on July 18 for PC (Steam, Microsoft Store) and Xbox. The game will be available on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass day-1 of its Early Access release.
Techtonica is one of 10 new indie games coming to Game Pass as part of ID@Xbox, Xbox’s indie game support initiative.
