Well, the reports were true! We will be seeing a new Sonic Racing game in the form of Team Sonic Racing ,all thanks to US Retailer Walmart leaking the game early and not really doing anything to take it down.
“Team Sonic Racing combines the best elements of arcade and fast-paced competitive style racing as you face-off with friends in intense multiplayer racing. Race together and work together as a team by sharing power-ups and speed boosts. Take control of your racing style – Choose from 3 distinct character types and unlock game changing vehicle customization options to suit your racing style.” goes the description.
By the looks of it, it seems to borrow mechanics from a PSP era game, Sonic Heroes and will only include 15 characters from the Sonic universe only.
There’s also support for both local and online multiplayer,four-player splitscreen and brand new co-op modes.
There’s no tentative release date yet but it will come out for the Nintendo Switch,Xbox One and PS4 sometime this Winter.
UPDATE 31/5/18: Sega has confirmed Team Sonic Racing is real. Here’s the official announcement (and teaser) trailer:
