Paradox Interactive’s survival colony builder game, Surviving Mars, will continue to be developed under new developer Abstraction.
Surviving Mars was originally developed by Haemimont Games, makers of the Tropico series. That team has moved on to another project altogether, so Paradox has brought in new devs to take over the development of new update.
This comes alongside the announcement of Surviving Mars surpassing 5 million players across all platforms. It’s important to note that the game was given for free as an Epic Games Store weekly giveaway multiple times. But still, 5 million players for a game of a niche genre is impressive numbers.
With that, Surviving Mars will be getting a new update- titled the Tourism Update- free for all players. This will add hotels, a new tourism mechanic, and customisable rover safaris.
The In-Dome Buildings Pack is similar to Cities: Skylines (Paradox’ other city builder game) where the devs team up with a modder to make in-game assets. This content creator pack will feature the work of long-time modder Silva, with 8 different buildings to spruce up your domes on the red planet. This is paid DLC.
In addition, a new expansion pack will be coming later this year.
For aspiring builders looking to make humans live on Mars, the future is still bright with more new content to come.
