Peripheral maker Steelseries has launched the Arctis GameBuds gaming earbuds in Malaysia.
Retailing at RM899, the Arctis Gamebuds is compatible with consoles, PC, mobile and VR headsets (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Switch, Mobile, Meta Quest, other handheld/cloud gaming devices) with the option to connect via Bluetooth 5.3 or using the 2.4GHz dongle for wireless connection on consoles.
(PS5 and Xbox Series consoles require the use of this specific dongle to connect the earbuds. There are different versions of this earbud that bundles a different type of dongle designed to work either on PlayStation or on Xbox.)
The Arctic Gambuds can switch between either connection via Quick-Switch—it’s just three taps of the on-ear button to do so.
The SteelSeries Arctis Gamebuds supports 3D audio (PS5’s Tempest 3D audio is specifically name dropped), has active noise cancellation and also works with a mobile companion app, allowing users to use 100+ different game presets even on consoles.
As for battery life, the ArctisGamebuds promises 40 hours of use with 3 extra charges in the case. The buds can last three hours with only 15 minutes of USB-C fast charging. And it supports wireless Qi charging via the case.
The Gamebuds is IP55 water resistant, so it can withstand sweat, dirt and rain making it fit for outdoor use outside of gaming. And it comes with multiple silicone tips.
A lot of the feature set of the Arctis Gamebuds here sounds a lot from SteelSeries’ recent Arctis Nova 5 headset, which is a good thing. And the one bad thing we mentioned in the review of the Nova 5 headset, the dongle has the ability to block other USB ports, has been somewhat addressed by the off-centre position of the dongle’s USB-C port.
If you prefer earbuds over headsets (and fine with not having a built-in microphone) the Arctis Gamebuds might be what you’re looking for.
The SteelSeries Arctis Gamebuds is available in Malaysia beginning today, October 29. It’s available on SteelSeries’ official Shopee and Lazada pages as well as at retails stores.
